5 POSTER DESIGN ELEMENTS

These are the 5 posters for events. Some include my own sketch for the media morphosis, some include posters from notable media events from around the world.

BAD CAMPUS POSTER

d2os.jpg

Too Simple and no decoration and visuals. The words are also repetitive.

Too simple as well. Fonts of black not suited to match with the dark blue background color.
Should have use other colours like red. The visual is also confusing.

GOOD CAMPUS POSTER

The 2 posters below are in my opinion, good as they use strong visuals and fonts to show off the effects and get the message across. The colors also compliment each other.

KERNING

In typography, kerning (less commonly mortising) is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result. In a well kerned font, the two-dimensional blank spaces between each pair of characters all have similar area.

GRID SAMPLES OF WEBSITES

Grids are used in newspapers and book design, but also on the web. On the web however, grids are used differently. Web designers have a lot of possibilities to use the grid for ordering information and content.

ORCHARD ROAD FIELD TRIP

BAD LOGOS:

This logo seems bad to me as the shape it's not clear enough. It's very weird looking and the
design seems confusing. There is no exact message to the audience viewing the logo.

Again, this logo is too confusing and simple. There is no message or tagline and the viewers
may have no clue what the logo is trying to convey.

This Fujifilm ad is not good as there are too many visual elements. The choice of using Green it's
not strong enough to grab attention.

Wording too simple and does not have a strong shape.

Bad choice of colour usage. The words blend in with the background, making it hard for the
audience to know about the brand name. The text should be in another colour instead.

The focus of the ad is on the '&'. This is very strange as the ad should instead focus on the brand name of ' bell and ross ' .

Weird shape with too many patterns, this may make the viewers be turn off and want to remember the shape more than trying to know more about the brand.

ORCHARD ROAD FIELD TRIP

GOOD LOGOS:

Use of silver coloring and gold glittering to make the brand stands out. Make it looks exclusive
and well branded.

Simple and classy fonts. May people remember the brand more.

Unique logo. Good details to show the close up shot of the watch, may therefore attract people
to look at the Ad.

Use of red light to create a warmth feeling and make the product 'pop' out. This is done to convey how exclusive and prestigious the product is. It is simple too, making it easy for people to remember.

Strong way to convey the style of MANGO. Simple yet sophisticated.

Nike the ever famous brand, their trademark tick logo is good due to its simple yet clear and define shape. One single tick can convey so much about a brand. The use of orange also makes the logo more appealing to the eyes and attention-grabbing.

Simple and easy to remember. Use of silver colour to show how high end the brand is.
